Calabasas, CA — July 2026 — C6 Outdoor unveiled the second generation of its groundbreaking Rev Tent, reinforcing the company’s mission to normalize truly comfortable sleep outdoors whether it's on the ground, in a pick-up or on a vehicle roof. Building on nearly two decades of innovation — beginning with the earliest rooftop tents imported from South Africa — the new Rev Tent Gen 2 introduces smarter engineering, improved materials, and a modular design that adapts to any style of camping.

Founders Dave and Tina Payne began selling roof top tents 17 years ago, long before overlanding became mainstream. What stood out then still drives C6 Outdoor today: a real mattress changes everything. The second‑generation Rev Tent refines the original design with meaningful upgrades:

•A decoupled fly sheet, allowing campers to choose the right fly for their environment and improving warm‑weather performance

•New DTY yarn fly sheets for a more canvas‑like, matte aesthetic

•PFAS‑free materials, made possible by updated regulations

•A new oversized moon roof, offering wide‑open sky views when camping without the fly

These changes streamline production, expand versatility, and elevate comfort — all while preserving the Rev Tent’s signature real‑mattress experience.

C6 Outdoor launched during the tail end of the pandemic with a bright, playful approach to camping that quickly resonated with customers. The company now sells as many ground and pickup‑bed Rev Tents as rooftop versions, and continues to grow steadily in a crowded market full of gimmicks and short‑lived trends.

ABOUT THE REV TENT GEN 2

The Rev Tent is a 4 season, heavy duty, 2 layer tent that can be set up for camping on the roof of a vehicle, in the bed of a pick-up truck or on the ground. 

Features a 4” / 11cm  dual layer foam mattress, 3 giant doors/windows for views and ventilation, 4 storage pockets, and weighs only 25lbs /11kg.  

The 6 available fly sheets include the Eclipse Black-Out Fly for late sleepers, a HellaStorm fly with advanced waterproofing, and a fly specifically designed for medium to large bed pick-up trucks.     

For vehicle roof top camping, the Rev Tent can be mounted directly to any platform style roof rack (1255mm / 85” or longer) or mounted to the C6 Outdoor Rev Platform X.   

ABOUT DAVE AND TINA PAYNE

Having toured Africa by truck on their honeymoon, founders Dave & Tina were no strangers to long road trips and living out of roof top tents when they helped build Front Runner Outfitters - one of the most respected and popular vehicle accessory companies for overlanding - all from humble beginnings in their California garage.

After nearly a decade, they decided to hit pause, step away from the business, and go on an adventure with their kids. They outfitted a Land Rover with the best overlanding gear and from their home in the mountains outside of Los Angeles, set out on a long drive to South America.

Reflecting on a lifetime of roughing it, they were struck by the friendships they made along the way and the ease at which they could connect with very different people over a shared campfire. What started with a spark, became an obsession - How to get more people outside, more people traveling & camping, more people connecting.

Dave and Tina decided the straightest line from A to B was to take the roughing it out of roughing it.  Enter, C6 Outdoor.
