Do you already have a Rev Tent and want to sleep on the top of your vehicle? 


With the Rev Tent Platform X you can use your Rev Tent for vehicle rooftop sleeping on most vehicles with cross bars or flat deck roof racks.  (for Roof Racks at least 48" x 84" we recommend the Rev Rack Tent)

This all-black extrusion style platform is as simple as it is strong.  Folds open to create a perfectly sized deck for the Rev Tent.  

Use on any flat deck style roof rack to free up additional space or to sleep in the Rev Tent off the side of the vehicle. This allows for use of the Rev Room Platform Annex for privacy while changing, showering, or going about other bathroom-themed business.    

Holds up to 475 lbs.

Use along with the Rev Room Platform Annex to create an extra standing room for changing, showering, or restroom business.  

Add Rev Shoe Storage bags to the platform for additional storage for shoes, sundries, flashlight, keys, toiletries...

FOR USE with LOAD / CROSS BARS:  The bars must be straight. Bars with too much curve over the span, such as most OEM bars, are not compatible. While oval shaped bars can be used, square or rectangular bars offer best fit. Bars must have dimensions no wider than 10cm / 4” and no taller than 4cm / 1.5”.     

FOR USE WITH ROOF RACKS:  Only compatible with flat deck style racks. A raised perimeter may interfere. If rack slats are larger than dimensions listed above for the cross bars, you may need additional mounting hardware. Please refer to the manufacturer of your roof rack for the recommended way to mount a roof top tent. The C6 Outdoor included hardware is about as ‘universal” as it gets, but there are many different styles and sizes of roof racks and the C6 Outdoor included hardware may not work in all applications.  

 

FAQs

Q: HOW EASY IS IT TO SET UP THE REV ROOF TOP TENT? 
A: Remove the ladder and Rev Tent from the platform. Attach the ladder to the platform (no tools required). Fold platform open. Pitch the tent. Attach the Rev Tent to platform. Should take no more than 5 minutes. And no longer than the setup of a standard soft shell roof top tent.   

Q: HOW DO I TRANSPORT THE LADDER WITH THE REV ROOF TOP TENT? 
A: You can transport the ladder inside the vehicle or truck bed, or you can transport it outside the vehicle. We at C6 call this packing method the “Pancake Stack.” The ladder, stored in the ladder case, is strapped to the tent, which is in turn strapped to the platform. The Platform kit includes all the necessary Rev Straps.  

Q: I'M WORRIED I'M TOO SHORT TO SET UP THE TENT WHILE IT'S ON THE  VEHICLE. 
A: You might be! Who are we to judge? You can stand on the tires and inside the vehicle with the doors open to assemble the poles, or many Rev experts choose to set up the tent on the ground and then lift it to the top of the platform. Remember, the tent only weight 25 lbs and can be carried by 1 person. 

Q: CAN I MOVE THE PLATFORM ALONE OR WILL I NEED HELP? 
A: The platform weighs 52 lbs / 23 Kgs. One person can lift the platform to the vehicle roof before a trip, or to remove it for storage after a trip.  If you're worried about damaging the vehicle or unable to lift the 52 lbs, we suggest asking a pal for help.  

Q: CAN I LEAVE THE PLATFORM ON THE VEHICLE? 
A: You can, but ideally you remove it after camping season. You’ll get many more years of use out of the product if it is kept out of the elements while not in use.

Q: HOW HARD IS IT TO ASSEMBLE THE REV PLATFORM X?

If you can follow directions and have used a wrench and a screw driver before, not hard at all. There are a bunch of repetitive steps to secure the extrusions.  Please view the assembly instructions before purchase if you are at all concerned!  If you're overwhelmed or too busy to bother, your local off-road shop or a halfway motivated Task Rabbit worker can help you assemble the platform.  Assembly takes about 2 hours.

Before assembling your product, download and read these instructions!  You must follow these steps for warranty coverage and FOR YOUR SAFETY!   

The Rev Platform X ships unassembled. You will need to build the platform! All tools are included. You must be able to follow the easy directions and set aside at least 2 hours of time.

FINE PRINT:   For use with Front Runner Roof Racks, consider mounting the Rev Platform with the Front Runner Quick Release Tent Mount kit, or the Front Runner Tent Mounts. While the Rev Platform can mount directly to the rack with included hardware, using the Front Runner systems can offer easier access to the mounting hardware and quicker on and off of the Rev Platform.  For use with the Rhino Pioneer platform, you can offset the square tracks of the Rev Platform X, or you can drill through the slats in order to mount the Rev Tent Platform.  Rhino recommends drilling through their slats for roof top tent mounting and adds “due to the reinforced nylon and aluminum materials of the Pioneer Platform, there is no risk or corrosion or structural weakening.”  

PRO TIP: 
Some vehicles are tall. Some people are short. It may not be physically possible for you to reach all the poles to set up the tent. There is no shame in cheating by setting up the tent at ground level, and then lifting the tent on to the deck. (the tent only weighs 25 lbs). If you do this… don’t forget to BOLT THE TENT DOWN to the deck before entering! And if you’re still reading this - we can’t stress enough - bolt the tent to the platform base before entering!

What are you looking for?

  1. In order to mount the Rev Rack Tent on your rack, you will need a platform style roof rack with flat surface of at least 48” x 84” / 1220mm x 2134mm with gaps between the slats no greater than 8” /203mm.
  2. Front Runner or Yakima / Rhino Rack Option: your Rev Rack Tent ships with 6 stainless steel eye nuts and appropriate track bolts.
  3. For “other” roof rack option: your Rev Rack Tent will come with a set of 4 Rev Straps that can be used to secure the tent to a wide variety of appropriately sized platform style roof racks for transport and sleep.
